Sara L. Rynes
(Ph.D., University of Wisconsin) is the John F. Murray Professor of Management and
Organizations at the University of Iowa. Her current research interests include
compensation, recruitment, strategic human resource management, field influences on
higher education, and knowledge transfer. Her work has appeared in the Academy of
Management Journal, the Academy of Management Review, Journal of Applied Psychology,
Organization Studies, Personnel Psychology, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision
Processes, Industrial Relations, Annual Review of Psychology, Harvard Business
Review, Academy of Management Executive, Journal of Vocational Behavior, Handbook
of Industrial & Organizational Psychology, Human Relations, Human Resource Management,
and Academy of Management Learning and Education.
In addition to serving two previous terms
on the editorial board of the Academy of Management Journal and a term as associate editor, she has also served
on the boards of Journal of Applied Psychology, Personnel Psychology, Quality
Management Journal, Academy of Management Learning and Education, and the Society
for Industrial & Organizational Psychology¹s Frontiers Series. She is a Fellow of
the American Psychological Association and the Society for Industrial and
Organizational Psychology. She and her husband, Paul, have three children,
Jennifer, Ben and Daniel, and a grandson, Liam. They enjoy reading, hiking, traveling,
cooking, gardening, and following Daniel around on his soccer circuit.

Amy Hillman, Associate Editor

Amy Hillman
(Ph.D., Texas A & M University) is an associate professor and Dean's Council of 100 Distinguished
Scholars in the W. P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University. Her current research
interests include corporate governance, corporate political strategies and how resource-dependence
linkages improve firm performance. Her research has been published in Academy of Management
Review, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Management, Journal of Management Studies
and Business & Society among others. In addition to serving two previous terms on the editorial
board of the Academy of Management Journal, she continues to serve on the editorial board of
Strategic Management Journal and has served on the boards of Journal of Management and Journal
of International Business Studies. She received AMJ's Outstanding Reviewer Award in both 2001
and 2003 and has received the BPS Division's Outstanding Reviewer Award six times. Before coming
to ASU, she was on the faculties of Michigan State University and University of Western Ontario
as well as being a guest professor at Johannes Kepler University in Linz, Austria. In her free
time she and her husband Gerry Keim enjoy hiking, eating out, and their Bernese Mountain Dog,

R. Duane Ireland, Associate Editor

R. Duane Ireland holds the Foreman R. and Ruby S. Bennett Chair in Business
Administration in the Mays Business School, Texas A&M University. Previously, he has served
on the faculties at University of Richmond, Baylor University, and Oklahoma State University.
His research interests include strategic alliances, the effective management of organizational
resources, corporate entrepreneurship, and strategic entrepreneurship. His work has been
published in journals such as the Academy of Management Journal, the Academy of Management
Review, the Academy of Management Executive, Strategic Management Journal, Administrative
Science Quarterly, Journal of Management, Human Relations, British Journal of
Management, and Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice. He is a co-author of both scholarly
books and textbooks. He has served or is serving on the editorial review boards for the
Academy of Management Journal, the Academy of Management Review, the Academy of Management Executive,
Journal of Management, Journal of Business Venturing, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice,
European Management Journal, and Journal of Business Strategy.
He has completed terms as an associate editor for the Academy of Management Executive and as
a consulting editor for Entrepreneuship Theory and Practice and
has served as a guest co-editor for special issues of the Academy of Management Review,
the Academy of Management Executive, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of
Engineering and Technology Management, and Journal of Business Venturing (forthcoming). He has been a member of the
executive committee for the Business Policy Strategy division and served as the division's newsletter editor.
Currently, Duane is serving as a member of the Academy's board of governors (as a
representative-at-large). His outside interests include running, reading, and music.

Bradley Kirkman, Associate Editor

Bradley Kirkman
(Ph.D., University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill) is an associate professor of management and
Mays Research Fellow in the Mays Business School at Texas A&M University.
He most recently served on the faculty in the College of Management at The Georgia Institute of
Technology. His primary research
interests include work team effectiveness, cross-cultural management, and organizational
justice. His articles have appeared in such journals as the Academy of Management Journal,
the Academy of Management Review, the Academy of Management Executive, Journal of
Applied Psychology, Personnel Psychology,
Journal of Experimental Social Psychology, Journal of Management,
Journal of International Business Studies, Group & Organization Management,
Journal of Cross Cultural Psychology, Organizational Dynamics and others.
He has conducted research and presented
papers in several countries including Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Canada, England,
Finland, France, Mexico, the People's Republic of China, the Philippines, Turkey,
and the United States. He received the Outstanding Reviewer Award from AMJ
in 2002, 2003, and 2004. In his spare time, he enjoys live music, traveling, watching sports
(live and in HDTV), exercising, and grilling and dining out (thus, the exercising).

Kenneth S. L. Law, Associate Editor

Kenneth Law (Ph.D., University of Iowa)
is a professor in the Management Department of the Hong Kong
University of Science & Technology. His areas of expertise are Human Resource
Management and Research Methodology. His research interests include personnel
selection, human resource research methods, organizational citizenship
behaviors, compensation management, and HRM and OB issues of Chinese
Management. He has served on the editorial board of the Academy of Management
Journal for three consecutive terms since 1996. This year (2004) he was appointed a Consulting
Editor of the Journal of Occupational and Organizational Psychology.
He has published a book "Translating questionnaires and other research
instruments -- Problems and solutions" (Sage Publication). Kenneth is married
to Alice, with two sons, Hubert and Matthew.

Chet Miller, Associate Editor

Chet Miller
(Ph.D., University of Texas at Austin)is a
member of the faculty at the Babcock Graduate School of Management, Wake Forest University.
He is also the Academic Director for Babcock's Executive MBA Program and the Associate
Dean for Faculty. Prior to moving to Wake Forest, he served on the faculty at Baylor
University and was a visiting faculty member at Cornell University. Awards and honors
include the Outstanding Young Researcher Award (Baylor University) and teaching awards
from Wake Forest University and Duke University. His current research interests include
the functioning of management teams, the design of strategic decision processes, and the
design of organizational structures and systems. Published work has appeared in the Academy
of Management Journal, Organization Science, and Strategic Management Journal. In addition
to his post at the Academy of Management Journal, he currently serves on the editorial board
of Organization Science. He has worked with a number of managers and executives in
development venues, including individuals from ABB, Bank of America, Krisp Kreme,
LaFarge, Red Hat, State Farm Insurance, and the United States Postal Service. His
hobbies include hiking, reading, and playing golf. He has been married for more than

Nandini Rajagopalan, Associate Editor

Nandini Rajagopalan
(Ph.D., University of Pittsburgh)
is Professor of Management and Organization at the Marshall School of Business
and Faculty Fellow, Center for Excellence in Teaching at the University of Southern
California. Her current research interests include CEO succession, executive compensation,
corporate governance, top management teams, strategic change, and global strategic alliances.
Her research has been published in the Academy of Management Journal, Academy of
Management Review, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Management,
Journal of Management Studies and Journal of International Business Studies
among others. She has served three prior terms on the editorial board of the Academy of
Management Journal, and is currently on the editorial boards of Strategic Management
Journal, Business Horizons and Journal of World Business. Her academic
awards include the Western Academy of Management’s Ascendant Scholar Award in 1996, AMJ's
Outstanding Reviewer Award in 1999, the BPS Division's Outstanding Reviewer Award in 1995
and 2002 and several awards for outstanding teaching at the University of Southern
California. She was a guest co-editor for AMJ’s Special Issue on Governance through
Ownership (April 2003). Her service to the Academy includes membership on the Business
Policy & Strategy Division’s Executive Committee (1998-2000); participation as faculty
panelist and presenter at Doctoral (1994; 1999) and Junior Faculty (2003) Consortiums,
and service as the Western Region Representative for the BPS Division (1994-96). Her
outside interests include cooking, reading, travel, and music. She has been married for
twenty-two years to Sampath Rajagopalan of the University of Southern California and

Debra Shapiro, Associate Editor

Debra L. Shapiro
(Ph.D., Northwestern University)
is Clarice Smith Professor of Management & Organization at the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith
School of Business. Previously, she was the Willard J. Graham Distinguished Professor of
Management at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill's Kenan-Flagler Business School
(where she was on the faculty from 1986-2003). An author of over 60 journal articles and
book chapters, Debra's work generally focuses on the topics of managing conflict
(e.g., employee perceptions of injustice, resistance to organizational change),
negotiations, and cross-cultural challenges associated with conflict management
issues. Her work appears in many of the premier scholarly journals including
Administrative Science Quarterly, Academy of Management Journal,
Academy of Management Review, Academy of Management Executive, Organizational
Behavior and Human Decision Processes, Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of
Personality and Social Psychology, among others. While at UNC, Debra received the 1997
Ph.D. Teaching Award and was Associate Dean for Ph.D. Programs from 1998-2001 and an
elected member of the University's 9-member Chancellor Advisory Council (from 2001-2002).
Debra is a three-time recipient of Best Paper Awards from the Academy of Management's (AOM)
Conflict Management Division (in 1991, 1992, and 1996), and the 1999 recipient of the
Best Empirical Paper Award from the International Association for Conflict Management. Debra
has served in all executive board positions, including Chair, of the AOM's Conflict Management
Division and has served/is serving on several editorial boards, including Academy of
Management Review, Journal of Organizational Behavior, Journal of International
Business Studies, and the International Journal of Conflict Management. Past AOM
Committees on which Debra has served include: the Human Resource Division's Scholar
Achievement Award Committee, the Newman (Best Dissertation-based) Award Committee, and
the Best AMR Publication Award Committee. Currently, Debra is serving on the All-Academy's
Career Achievement Award Committee and the Terry Book Award Committee. She
is also serving as a Representative-at-Large of the AOM's Board of Governors, and is an
elected member of the Society of Organizational Behavior. In her free time (ha), Debra
enjoys playing jazz- and classical-piano, and taking in the many sights, tastes, musical
venues, and shopping-options of the metropolitan Maryland/Washington D.C. area with her

Martin G.
Evans is Professor Emeritus at the Rotman School at the University of Toronto.
In his retirement, he lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts where he is currently a Board Member of Common Cause, Massachusetts and volunteers in Reading to the Blind and various political campaigns. His hobbies
are reading. photography, and writing letters-to-the-editor.
He has served on the Editorial Boards of this journal, Leadership Quarterly, and the Canadian Journal of Administrative Sciences.
He was co-editor of the electronic journal M@n@gement. He is co-webmaster of the Research Methods
division website and is moderator of a leadership listserver. His research has focused on
the Path-Goal Theory of Leadership, of which he was co-developer, Quality of Working Life, Downsizing and Careers,
and the assessment of interactions in multiple regression. He was co-recipient of the
Academy's Distinguished Educator award in 2001. He is married to Nancy Remage Evans,
an astrophysicist; they have two grown daughters, Lisa and Katherine and one grandchild, Liam.
